Cambridgeshire Lakes has a rich and interesting history where, in its former guise, it was New Barn Farms.
New Barn Farms was previously owned by the Downing family and was within an area of parkland associated with their family home. They remained the owners of the present site until the 1940s. The family’s claim to fame dates back to their building of Downing Street in London and the founding of Downing College in Cambridge.
It then became the property of the Alexander family and our picturesque lakeside lodges were the brainchild of Charlie Alexander. He soon realised that a spot like this in rural Cambridgeshire was too scenic to be kept to himself and his blood, sweat and tears has seen a field become what you see today, a stunning lake and three beautiful lodges.
As Cambridgeshire Lakes is a small, family run business, we are able to offer an experience where you are at the heart of everything we do. We work hard to give you the very best experience from the moment you find us online to the moment you get home from your stay with us.
We have a dedicated team of staff who share our passion and our aims. We work to an ethos that every guest should feel like they are the first guests to enter the property and perfection is what we strive for.
